In the early stages of training we use a continuous reward schedule and the method of successive approximation to condition each behavior. Repetition is the mother of skill. This video shows a dog in the first days of our 6 week Board and Train Program. By about the middle of the program all dogs are working with few or no treats and by the end, nearly all dogs are working off-leash at a very high level of proficiency. But, you are correct. to start every dog we turn everything into a reward based exercise so it is fun, engaging and rewarding for the dog. They learn to love Obedience! Our Board and Train Program is guaranteed for life. We always get real and lasting results. Thanks for following our videos and commenting.

I love this! I have a San In Shiba who's my SDIT. She's made for this work. There are defenitely strengths these types of smaller spitz type dogs habe for service dog work. Mine is good at tuning out distractions as she's so focused on me, loves to have a job that helps me (she knows she's helping) and takes her job seriously. These breeds have thousands of years of ancestry working for humans in different ways and are wired to help us. I hope these videos encourage more people to consider these breeds for service dog work :)

I'm thinking she's either using this to get him used to moving around a mobility aid and the sounds it makes or...she has a condition like Dysautonomia. My mom had that and she used to bring a foldable stool with her everywhere. I have it too and have a walker with a seat. For me, lifting anything out of the car is too much so I just bring my service dog. Cause walkers, stools and suitcases can't alert you or do dpt.

also it has to be in training it has a fairly loose heal and the vest says service d dog in training it had also small bits of focus to the handler and took a little bight to get commands right and when she was getting her bag in the cart the dog wasn't really looking at her . . . still a amazing dog tho .

@@Idk_about_life851Just to be clear, not every dog is going to walk in a super tight heel. I prefer to keep my service dog in training close, for her safety and because she needs to be able to smell me to alert to my cardiac conditions. Guide dogs, or dogs with guide tasks don’t walk in a heel, and dogs with forward moment tasks also won’t walk in a heel. Just a small reminder, some dogs are slightly different. Not every dog is going to be lazer focused on their handler either, some dogs, for things like PTSD as an example, are trained to very aware of their surroundings. Those 2 particular things don’t fault a dog for being a service dog. People like to hold handlers and their dogs to specific standards, when really, it all is based on the dog. All the ADA asks is that the dog isn’t having accidents/is potty trained, doesn’t disturb the general public by barking, sniffing, the like, is under control, whether it be verbally or by other means, and that the dog is trained to preform at least one tasks. That’s it. As a community, we tend to forget what the law states, and tend to see our own standards and fault people. Some dogs are slower to respond too commands, and that’s just how that dog, or that team works, and that’s okay. Just keep that in mind 😊😊
